SSAS Program

Cultivating the Next Generation Through Sanatana Dharma

The SSAS Program is a unique initiative designed to help children build a strong foundation in Bharatiya Samskriti, values, Sanskrit, Bhagavad Gita chanting, and spiritual discipline while continuing to excel in their academic studies.

At VHP Guyana, we believe that children should grow with a deep sense of pride in their culture, heritage, and identity. Through SSAS, we aim to nurture confident, value-based, and culturally rooted young individuals who are prepared to thrive in the modern world.

    About Arshavidyalaya

The word “Arsha” is derived from the Sanskrit word for Rishi (seer), referring to one who understands the truth of the Self through the mantras of the Vedas. “Vidya” means knowledge or wisdom. Arshavidya is the sacred wisdom passed down through generations by the Rishis. Arshavidyalaya is therefore a place where this timeless wisdom is made available for seekers today.

Named by Poojya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Arshavidyalaya stands as a beacon for preserving traditional teachings. It was inaugurated in 2015 by Swami Sakshatkritananda, Chairman of Sri Gangadhareswar Trust, Rishikesh, with the blessings of Swami Dayananda Saraswati.

The institution is dedicated to Advaita Vedanta, Sanskrit, Vedic chanting, pooja, and prayer traditions. It reconnects children and adults with the rich spiritual and cultural heritage they are born into.

    SSAS Program Overview

SSAS is a transformative 5-year program for children in Classes 2 to 10, and it also welcomes other interested students.

The program is rooted in Sanatana Dharma and the principle of “Samskritena Samskriti” – learning culture through Sanskrit.

    The Program Helps Children:

    • Strengthen cultural identity and pride
    • Build discipline, confidence, and leadership
    • Improve memory, focus, and communication skills
    • Learn Sanskrit, Bhagavad Gita, stotrams, and pooja vidhi
    • Develop moral values and spiritual understanding
    • Balance school education with cultural learning

Students learn the Bhagavad Gita with proper pronunciation, various stotrams, Sanskrit basics, and the significance of Hindu rituals and festivals.

Festivals such as Saraswati Pooja, Guru Poornima, Diwali, and other cultural observances help children understand the symbolism and deeper meaning behind our traditions.

    Why Join the SSAS Program?

SSAS goes beyond regular school education by combining cultural learning, life skills, values, and spiritual knowledge.

    Children are taught:

    • Empathy and compassion
    • Discipline and integrity
    • Respect for elders and traditions
    • Leadership and teamwork
    • Social responsibility
    • Ethical decision-making
    • Public speaking and communication skills

Traditional stories, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and practical activities help children understand and apply these values in daily life. The program also introduces students to Sanskrit and Paninian grammar, helping them connect with the language and wisdom of ancient Bharatiya civilization.

    Research and Credibility

Research shows that chanting, memorization, language learning, and value-based education can significantly improve concentration, discipline, emotional well-being, and cognitive development in children.

The structured nature of the SSAS Program helps students build confidence, improve focus, develop stronger communication skills, and cultivate a sense of responsibility.

By combining traditional wisdom with modern educational methods, SSAS creates a unique and effective learning environment for the next generation.

A study by Indispensable Significance of Sanskrit in Education – Dras  reveals how structured Sanskrit learning enhances linguistic skills, cognitive development, and ethical awareness. Further, findings from the IIT Roorkee Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems demonstrate that holistic, integrated learning fosters creativity and balanced personality development. These studies robustly support the SSAS Program’s commitment to blending ancient wisdom with modern pedagogy for nurturing well-rounded, innovative individuals.
